The Mason Family Circus

Emma on her First Day of BalletEmma participated in her first ballet class today and it was so exciting to watch her. I think I had tears in my eyes the entire time. She was so sweet.

Parents were not allow in the classroom, but we could watch through the window. I did  get a little bit of video on my iPhone, but I think it will be very poor quality. Once I've checked it out, I'll see if it worth posting.

At the end of the class, they gathered in a circle and each child had to stand up and show one thing they learned that day. Emma was last. When it was her turn, I thought she might get upset to be the center of attention like that. Instead, she stood up and presented her favorite "ballet" pose. (Pretty much the same one as the photo, but with even more verve.) They did not actually learn that in class, but she executed it with such commitment that one of the other moms called it the class' "grande finale". Funny.

She burst out of the class with all kinds of stories about what she learned. "Mommy, we galloped like this!" "Mommy, we tiptoed like this!" Full of joy and it was perhaps the most beautiful thing I'd ever seen.
